Audion Sterling power amplifier range
The Audion Sterling Anniversary range of hard-wired hand built mono-blocks consists of 4 models KT88 Parallel Single Ended and Push-Pull power amplifiers, and we have now included the powerful KT150 as an option on our Push Pull and Parallel Single Ended power amplifiers.
There is a volume control on the front which means that a pre-amplifier is not always necessary. Being Auto biased means that both the PSE and PP amplifiers can take almost any KT88 (the amps are supplied with JJ tubes).
These Audion Sterling Anniversary edition Mono Blocks are very musical with smooth transients, good signal handling and tight response curves as well as good overall sonic performance.
These amplifiers are best suited for use with loudspeakers of 85db efficiency or better.

Audion Sterling hard wired , hand built mono block power amplifiers come with a range of options, and represent our entry level mono-block high power models.
The hard wired (Air Wired) 30th Anniversary amplifiers are wired point to point. The Parallel single ended design uses a unique ultra-linear circuit. Both mono blocks use a small amount of negative feedback to make the pentode valves work properly.
Fitted with our own design “wound in house” output transformers and power chokes, and huge polypropylene caps in the power supply, the mono-blocks deliver true outstanding power and control.
Where possible we avoid the use of Chinese components. These Pentode based amplifiers use unique ultra-linear circuits and of course our own output transformers. See the tabs below for list of amplifiers and options to suit your needs

We offer 2 upgrade classes for the Sterling Range.. The upgrade classes are
Insignia Class which uses a full silver wired audio path, better graded components again in the audio path, tantalum resistors in the critical places and WBT binding posts.
Excelsior Class uses the same as above but with the inclusion of Teflon/Tin foil V-caps, Internal Solid Silver wired Interconnect, a 43 way Stepped attenuator, better power supply capacitors and WBT RCA’s.
There are options on both classes for solid silver wound secondaries or primaries and secondaries on the output transformer.

Every Sterling feels like it's punching well above its weight. So Good I bought one myself.
More seasoned audiophiles will know that good amplification – no matter the topology – has no sound of its own. Don’t expect the thick syrup or golden hues of sub-$1000 Chinese units. There is no sickly/heavy sauce here. Neither is there porridge bass. Who said tubes are no hopeless below the waist? (Fools!) This Audion is the healthiest of extra virgin olive oil: light, transparent, clean. And fast. It is unburdened by ponderous, labouring low frequencies or musical weight gain. Its talents lie in 1. the ability to drive a wide range of loudspeakers and 2. the beautification of music. Each combination a winner.
