The Audion Sterling Mk1 Single Ended Stereo & Single Ended Stereo Integrated, EL34 printed circuit board power amplifiers have a solid power rating of 12 watts per channel pure class “A”
The Sterling MK1 is our entry level amplifier, affordable and yet “Punches way above its weight” The Mk1 Sterling does just that, by producing fast, tight and transparent transients. This amp produces a level of performance that is radically superior to current designs.
All Audion amplifiers, the MK1 included are hand built by a single Artisan from start to finish using carefully selected and matched components. All are capable of working with a wide range of loudspeakers.

Description
Audion Sterling Mk1 printed circuit board EL34 stereo and Stereo Integrated power amplifiers represent our entry level power amplifier.
All of of our amplifiers have a volume control on the front which negates the need for a pre-amplifier in most cases. Our stereo integrated power amplifiers even have a 5 stereo channel passive pre-amplifier built in so you can use up to 5 line level inputs. These amps even have an un-attenuated output for feeding directly to a tape recorder or active sub-woofer or even to another amp for bi-amping. Our Mk1 amplifiers are single ended EL34 designs which use a unique ultra-linear circuit and all Sterling power amps use a small amount of negative feedback to make the EL34 pentode valves work properly.
All of our Sterling models are auto-biased so do not need regular bias changing or complicated setting up. They are pretty much “Plug and play”
Our amps are ideally suited to loudspeakers of 89db or greater efficiency except for our mono-block versions that can cope with lower efficiency.
Sonically, The EL34 Pentode valves used in the MK1 Sterling Range are robust and have a fantastic weight and clarity. ” Focused and involving sound without tubey colouration”. With its narrow format chassis and affordable price the MK1 Sterling is easy place and more easy to enjoy listening to. “This is a very musical amp”
The chassis is made of military grade aluminium, with a durable black powder coated finish. The top plate and badge are finished with mirror polished stainless steel. The knob is solid aluminium, and as a whole unit, its all in a small, half width chassis.

Speak to your dealer when ordering your amplifier. Any further upgrades and we would recommend going to the hard wired Anniversary versions
There are options for both versions of the MK1 amplifiers to upgrade to solid silver wound secondaries or primaries and secondaries on the output transformer. However we would recommend going to Hard wired Anniversary versions before changing output transformers.
We also offer a remote volume control for both stereo and stereo integrated power amplifiers. New for 2020, full remote control option with built in 63 way stepped attenuator, remote channel change and volume as well as power off. Full metal handset.
Upgrades & Classes
Upgrade options and upgraded product categories direct from the factory.
We offer 2 upgrade classes for the Sterling MK1 Range. However we would strongly recommend changing to hard wired version before considering these class options . The upgrade classes are
Insignia Class which uses a full silver wired audio path, better graded components again in the audio path, tantalum resistors in the critical places and WBT binding posts.
Excelsior Class uses the same as above but with the inclusion of Teflon/Tin foil V-caps, Internal Solid Silver wired Interconnect, a 43 way Stepped attenuator, better power supply capacitors and WBT RCA’s.
There are options on both classes for solid silver wound secondaries or primaries and secondaries on the output transformer.Upgrade options and upgraded product categories direct from the factory.

Every Sterling feels like it's punching well above its weight. So Good I bought one myself.
More seasoned audiophiles will know that good amplification – no matter the topology – has no sound of its own. Don’t expect the thick syrup or golden hues of sub-$1000 Chinese units. There is no sickly/heavy sauce here. Neither is there porridge bass. Who said tubes are no hopeless below the waist? (Fools!) This Audion is the healthiest of extra virgin olive oil: light, transparent, clean. And fast. It is unburdened by ponderous, labouring low frequencies or musical weight gain. Its talents lie in 1. the ability to drive a wide range of loudspeakers and 2. the beautification of music. Each combination a winner.
