Audion Premier MM Phono stage
Audion Premier active Moving magnet phono stage
” Audion Premier is a product with which you can happily live and exists as proof that you don’t have to spend five figures to attain lovely analog sound” – Jeff Dorgay – Tone Audio
Powered by just 2 x NOS 6H23N valves theis phono stage feature a transformer less design with no input, inter stage or output wound components making this phono stage capable of handling fast transients and the most intricate and detailed musical passages. Outstanding performance, lightning quick response curves and terrific transparency
The stand alone Premier MM Phono stage is a great match with ours or other pre or power amplifiers (Power amps must have volume control), and is a gret way to add a turntable to your system..
Upgrade options are available for this model, see upgrade tabs. Having a ground lift switch at the rear enables this phono stage to assist in resolving grounding issues by floating the ground internally above mains power ground.
As with all our amps they are hand built. The chassis is black powder coated aluminum as is the transformer cover. The top plate and badge are mirror finished stainless steel.
Audion Premier MM phono stage
This moving magnet phono stage is best suited for use with standard or low output moving magnet cartridges. and is easily matched with most moving magnet phono cartridges and because it is an active stage it does not need the same close matching as you would with a transformer based product. Upgrade options are available for this model, see upgrade tab. The MM phono stage can and has been made in hard wired mono_blocks.Looking inside the aluminium chassis reveals a tidy printed circuit board, premium parts, and a well-shielded power transformer. Nothing is overdone on this old-school design.

“This phonostage renders sound in a way that mixes so-called “vintage tube” and “modern tube” sound, all the while adding a bit of tonal warmth you won’t mistake for solid-state. Still, ample low- and high-frequency extension prevents the unit from sounding completely vintage. Overall, it’s an excellent balance. And the modest warmth goes a long way, especially with less-than-heavenly LP pressings.” – Jeff Dorgay
The MM phono stage is an active class A stage which uses a matching transformer less design, which means matching is much easier and far less critical of capacitance, resistance, impedance, inductance or reactance matching that transformer couple RIAA stages normally need.
The Phono MM stage uses 2 x NOS Russian 6H23N tubes, it also has a ground lift switch at the rear to assist in resolving grounding issues by floating the ground internally above mains ground.

Product options for the Premier MM Phono stage
Product options for the Premier Phono stage include different valve varieties as well better signal capacitors, better power supply capacitors, tantalum resistors and silver wired audio path and now we can offer WBT Nextgen RCA terminals.
Our Premier ramge of pre-amplifiers come available with 3 upgrade options starting from our Standard model we go up a level to Insignia Class and then on to Excelsior class and finally the ultimate Signature reference.
Each class has selected components designed to enhance performance, presence and definition.
The upgrade options are only available on a new build amplifier and are not retro fittable. The amplifier chassis will carry distinguishing marks and badging to determine the level.
All the options are based on a standard amplifier, and use the very finest selected components chosen form Britain, Europe or the US.
All options carry a lifetime guarantee and a certificate of authenticity.
See the next tab for available options.
Upgrades and Options available when ordering – Speak to your dealer about these when ordering your amplifier ask for either our standard amplifier or Insignia, Excelsior or Signature reference classes.
Upgrade options and upgraded product categories direct from the factory.
We offer 3 upgrade classes for the Premier Phono stage.. The upgrade classes are
Insignia Class which uses a full silver wired audio path, better graded components again in the audio path, tantalum resistors in the critical places.
Excelsior Class uses the same as above but with the inclusion of Teflon/Tin foil V-caps, Internal Solid Silver wired Interconnects, better power supply capacitors and WBT RCA’s.
Signature Reference uses the same as the Excelsior class but comes with fully silver wired and hard wired audio and ground paths, silver foil in oil capacitors, silver RCA’s
We do however recommend that if looking at the Excelsior or Signature Reference classes that the Hard wired option be considered first or even our Premier Quattro.
