Audion Select SA1 stepped attenuator passive pre-amplifier
The Audion Select passive stepped attenuator line level pre-amplifier 1.0 is a passive pre-amplifying device. Built with 5 line level inputs switched from the front panel, 2 line outputs and a direct un-switched unattenuated tape output. It is hard wired with a 48 way closely coupled stepped attenuator fitted and with a ground loop lift switch designed to stop any ground loops.. Being a passive pre-amplifier it will not add hum or tube noise to your current equipment
The black aluminium chassis is designed to match cosmetically to the rest of the Audion range in looks and sound quality, and having the same size and shape will fit in with other Audion equipment. The Select SA1 has been designed for users with stereo or mono-block amplifiers to add more inputs and volume control to their setup.
We can offer, by way of upgrade, silver internal inter connects / or silver internal wiring, and with the option of WBT Nextgen RCA sockets.
Being a passive stage it will not alter your soundstage, but at the same time it will not diminish it either. In use it is absolutely invisible, with convincing depth even at very low levels. It brings recordings to life and places you directly in front of the performance

Description
The Audion SA1 stepped attenuator Passive Pre-amplifier is designed and built using the best components that contribute to giving it pure sound reproduction. The volume control is a HIGH QUALITY Stepped Attenuator type to make sure you get precise stereo sound on any volume level without clicks or other type of sound issues between volume steps. The stepped volume attenuator was purposely selected for our passive pre-amplifier,. Super high quality 48 way make before break switch with hard old plated copper alloy internal signal plate with 1% high quality military resistors for each step. This type of closed 48 way switching is used due to its high quality characteristics and reliability to withstand many, many switch operations. Which guarantees you will get a fast and clean response and transparency and detail from our SA1 passive Stepped Attenuator Pre-Amplifier.
Our stepped attenuators are made with Vishay dale or Craddock 1% milittary grade high quality resistors as standard. They are of the Shunt type so only 2 resistors are seen in the signal path at any one time. Having an attenuation range of -60db to 0db with a mixture of 2db and 1db steps ample volume control can be achieved.
The pre-amp has 5 stereo line level inputs, 2 stereo outputs and an unattenuated stereo line tape output, as well as a ground lift switch to enable the internal ground to be floated above chassis ground level. This helps to reduce hum from connected equipment.
The chassis is of the same all aluminium construction as our Anniversary amplifiers, having similar front dimensions and looks but is easy to place as it is only half the depth.
